Hello and thank you all for your interest in Mercer salons and our potential reopening on May 16th.
We want to be clear in stating that your safety and the safety of our staff is something that we are taking very seriously. With that in mind, there are many safety and sanitation procedures that we are implementing that we would like to share with you. Please note that while most of these initiatives are only temporary others may become the new normal for a while.
Sanitizing Station- Every staff member and client must apply hand sanitizer upon entry to the salon. There will be a screening station at the door with hand sanitizer and someone taking temperatures, if you have a temperature over 100.3* no services will be rendered that day.
Social Distancing – In order to maintain a safe social distance we will be working in every other station at Mercer Studio and only utilizing the 2 barber chairs along the back wall and the 2 chairs in front at Mercer Supply Co. This limits us to only 4 available stylists/barbers at any given time in the salons, therefore, some of our stylists/barbers may be working on a split shift to accommodate their clients. You will be notified ahead of time if your service provider needs to adjust their schedule.
Masks – All of our staff and clients will be required to wear masks. We do ask that you wear a mask that secures behind the ears to your appointment. In the case you do not have a mask, one will be provided for you at the door.
No Blow-drying –We will not be doing any blow-drying in the salon at this time. This is to prevent forceful airflow of any germs through the salon and will allow us the time to take care of the maximum number of clients as efficiently as possible. We ask that you come with your hair clean (shampooed within 3 hours of the appointment time), dry, and pulled away from your face so that we can spray your hair rather than shampoo; or if you are receiving a color service, cut it dry prior to the color/hilite. We would like to limit shampoos to removing color from the hair. Please know that these restrictions on your shampoo and blow-dry services are temporary and that you will still be receiving the same exemplary cuts and color that you have come to expect from us.
Touch-less Greetings & Goodbyes – this one hurts us the most, but we will not be shaking hands or hugging at this time.
Changing Room – all clients must wear a smock or cape when receiving a service. Each stylist/barber will use a freshly cleaned or disposable cape for every cut client. Clean smocks will be in the dressing room for color clients along with plastic dry-cleaning bags to hang over your shirt.
Beverages – We will not be offering self-serve beverages at this time. Please let your stylist or front desk know if we can get you coffee, tea or water.
Limited Items and Guests – We ask that you arrive for your appointment at the time of your appointment and no earlier. Since we temporarily have a Louisiana State Board of Cosmetology mandated limit on the number of people allowed inside the salon at one time, please stay in your vehicle until time for your appointment. Please do not bring any extra guests with you and please do not bring children to your appointment at this time. No pets will be allowed in the salon at this time.
Susie and Courtney will be calling clients beginning May 12th to confirm and possibly reschedule appointments for May 16th and into the future. If your appointment was scheduled prior to May 16th, please rest assured that we have your name and appointment information and will reach out to assist you in booking also. Due to the possible schedule shifting of the stylists/barbers and our temporary limits on shampoos and blow-drys, your scheduled appointment may not stand as it was previously scheduled, however we will notify you of any change as soon as possible. We have limited phone staff that will be working hard to accommodate the many changes that have occurred.
If you have any underlying health condition that may put you at a higher risk of infection, we ask that you wait to return to the salon until May 30th, per state guidelines. In addition, if you have been ill or around someone who has been ill, please wait 14 days to reschedule your appointment.
We ask for your patience and understanding during this time as we are working quickly and diligently to be both accommodating and conscientious to your needs. We are incorporating these new procedures and improved sanitation practices into every aspect of our operation as an effort to keep our staff healthy so that we may continue to keep our clients beautiful (and handsome).
Thank you so very much for your kindness and support during this difficult time in history. We look forward to seeing you in the salons soon!
